James H. Collins III

James H. Collins III, 75, of Supply, died on Saturday, July 30, 2011, in Brunswick Community Hospital.

Born July 11, 1936, in Durham, he was a son of the late James H. and Carolina F. Collins.

He attended Woodberry Forest School and the University of North Carolina and was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany for two years. Until his retirement, he was affiliated with Rhodes Furniture for many years. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Janice. Survivors include his sister, Martha Kennon of Durham; his brother, William Collins of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three nephews and one niece, Scott, James, William and Jennifer. Also, he leaves very close friends, Gerald and Jane Brown, Carolyn Powell and Baiba Bombershein. Funeral services will be private.

Jim served on the Board of Directors of Chestnut Acres in the class of 2006 and 2009.
